To celebrate the National Muay Boran day (March 17th) and honor Nai Khanom Tom among with all the ancient Muay teachers, the Kru Muay Thai Association organized the 1st World Muay Boran Championship.

On the ring placed right in front of Nai Khanomtom statue in the ancient city of Ayutthaya participants from different countries challenged themselves in the ancient art of Muay Boran delivering punches, kicks, elbows and knees to each other in a 3 rounds match.

Needless to say, the 1st World Muay Boran Championship was awesome!

Male and female fighting categories were ranging from the 10 years old kids to the over 91kg “Gladiators”, all of them well prepared and determined to win.

However, an amazing respect was lively felt between the fighters at each round and cheering victory was a unique experience for both sides.

Protective gears is a must. Head, elbows, torso and shins were safely covered to avoid serious injury, even though someone got splendidly knocked out during the match as victim of a perfect Muay Boran technique from the adversary.

The whole event included also Wai Kru cerimonies and training camps. The most suggestive one has been set up within the walls of the ancient temple Wat Chai Wattanaram, right on the Chao Phraya riverbank at the sunrise.  …even more Awesome!!

We have to enormously thank the President of Kru Muaythai Association  Mr.Chinawut Sirisompan (Grand Master Woody) to welcome us and let us follow and document the whole event which allowed us to take great pictures from the ring side.

From over 1.500 images we extracted and cleaned 210 and we are posting them here for the athletes to save as great memory of their competition and training experience.

Great thanks to Cherry who took amazing shots and helped out with the editing of the pictures.
